I have struggled all my life to combat bigotry in all its forms. I began in earnest at Pepperdine University in 1970 fighting deadly racism which killed a young black student on campus who was just walking home; walking while black. He was killed by an armed security guard on campus. I certainly thought that within these 50 years since then, that people of color would be safe from murder from uniformed armed officials charged to protect and serve. It hurts me deeply that after 50 years monumental struggle, legislation, and repeated commitments to end racism, far too little has changed. I’ve added advocacy against all forms of bigotry. How to express all I want in a few words? My solution is to work so that everyone has a safe and dignified life.
